Looks good, very nice job you have done there. Were you able to positively locate the leak that was responsible?
Again this should serve as a reminder to all camper owners, especially those with wood framed ones: Be sure there are no leaks. Inspect carefully and frequently. Once damage becomes obvious, it is a major repair job. But it also shows that just about anything can be fixed.
Enjoy your as-good-as-new camper. After this, there will be little that could surprise you
Best regards
Joerg

Hi Joerg!
To exactly locate where the water leak have been is very difficult, but these campers are known to have a weak and simple sealing in the left and right outer corner were the alkove floor meets the front T-panel. Just in front of the mounting of the side jack stands. The cross over upper sealing of the T-panel that gathers the T-panel and the back of the alkove floor is also known as a critical point where leak can accure. Imaging the waterspray that hits this area when motorway speeding in heavy rain...
But your attention should be focused on the base mounting plates for the jack stands. On my camper they were sealed to the camperside with hardening adhesive sealant. This calls for leaks since the baseplates move a little bit when the camper is jacked, the sealing brake loose from the panel and you have a leak.
Another critical point is the non sence, no purpose roof rack the factory has placed on top of the camper. Sealing under the mounting legs is poor or in many cases non existing. Loosen the legs, apply sealant (also to the screws and re-tighten!
I have used flexible and non hardening Butyl 37 as a sealant between all details that are screwed onto the camper. This is sealant for overlap sealing only. Not for open sealing. Expensive but effective.

This picture shows the back of the right side camper stand mounting, and you can also see the bolt for the tie down bracket camper/pick up bed.
Strangely there was no sign of damage seen on the innerpanels despite all that rot inside....

Here is how one of the T-panel sides looked like after removal of the inner panel. Again; no trace of this damage seen on the surface of the inner panel.....
Luckely the camper has stayed on the pick up......

Hi DCHCPU,
I know these pictures all too well, but from the american perspective. My involuntary "restauration project" was our Lance 915. The story is here: [url:32oooj11]www.walzenbach.de/MK/BogQueenEN.html[/url].
Just last week I fixed the lateral beam below the rear window. It holds the screws for the roof ladder. They had broken loose, as there was nothing left to hold them (not to mention that half of them were just screwed into thin air to begin with). On the plus side, this was the same damage that was originally there, and everything I removed was thoroughly bone-dry by now. The camper sat outside all winter, so it was good to see that the work we did last year paid off and there is no more water intrusion. I have cut some inspection openings into the inside panels in various places of the camper, and to the best of my knowledge, there are no significant leaks anywhere.
You might want to seal the gaps between the old and new interior panels (if you haven't done so already). A strip of tape would be enough. Warm, water-saturated air can enter the wall there and will likely condense inside the wall. This can transport significant water quantities over time.
Thanks for the great pictures.
Enjoy the camper, and don't worry. It's for recreation, you know

Good work! It looks like new again! I hope it lasts long for the many hours of work you spent in the restauration.

Thanks!
Plenty work, but good learning. Learn where to look for damage next time one buys a second hand camper that seems ok at first glance.
I must admitt that the thought of removing all useable interior and use the sledge hammer on the remainig shell was present, but luckely my wife came to the resque..
As a tribut to the 'new life' of the camper I desided to give it some upgrade, and the watersystem got my attention. Since the camper is a 1994 model, it did only have cold water installed with simple pump-in-a-tank located on the pick up bed outside the camper.
Here is a few of the upgrades made to the camper:
Shurflo pressurised water system:

15 litre water heater tank. Heated eighter by the sentral heater or 220v:

50 litre fresh water tank:

Dometic ventilator:

Also keramic water armatures were installed for the kitchen and bathroom. Outside shower will be installed this spring, and new LED lams both inside and outside the camper and a heavy duty AGM battery charged via BEP dual sense split charger relay by Ctek 25000 or the pick-up's generator.
Look for us on the roads of scandinavia with our "new camper" this summer!
Dagfinn.
